General Introduction to the Parish
"Hi, I'm Rev'd Stephanie Gillingham, Rector of Widford Parish where we have something for every age group. We have two worship centres offering a more traditional(but Relaxed) style of worship at St. Marys Church, and a more modern band led style of worship at Church of the Holy Spirit. You are very Welcome to our services and events across the Parish. You will find various links through the website. For our current notice sheet, please click here. You will also find information on our facebook pages at the top of the page."
Rev'd Stephanie Gillingham was installed as Rector on 28th January 2018, after serving as our Priest-in-Charge for the last few years. The pictures below were taken at the service on that date.
The Parish Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Widford, proudly stands in the gateway of Chelmsford on the Chandlers Roundabout leading to Hylands Park and House. It was built in 1862 (for just £4,500!) by Arthur Pryor from Hylands House, the then centre of Widford Village.
Church of the Holy Spirit (CHS) was built in 1961 when Widford was ever expanding with housing and industry. CHS is in Forest Drive, as well as our Parish Centre is attached to Church of the Holy Spirit which is used on a weekly basis to hold events and gatherings.
You will receive a warm welcome at both churches, which are also children-friendly, with activities available for them during the services, with scripture specific material. We have a number of events and activities to which you are warmly invited to join us, as well as our Sunday services, which include tea, coffee and biscuits at the end:
St. Mary's - 9:30am - 11:00am
CHS - 10:30am - 12:00pm
Explore our website or call the office for more information about all the events and activities we have throughout the year; contact details and office hours can be found at the bottom of the page
We are part of Chelmsford South West Churches, which is made up of the Moulsham churches of St. John, the Evangelist and St. Lukes as well as St. Michael and All Angels, Galleywood.
